The 91-year-old, who performed Mavis Wilton within the ITV cleaning soap for 26 years, fears the present has misplaced the heat and delicate comedy it had in her day as storylines turn out to be ever extra grotesque.

She has since appeared in Dinnerladies, Fats Pals, Physician Who, Doc Martin and Midsomer Murders.
She questioned whether or not there are actually too many episodes of Corrie on each week, and mentioned the solid is simply too huge.
