Mary Berry fights again tears tonight as she tells Watchdog of how scammers used her picture to endorse hashish oil merchandise.
The ex-Bake Off star, 85, says she is “completely shattered” after followers paid large quantities for items they believed she had endorsed.
Requested what she is aware of about CBD oil, Mary tells host Matt Allwright: “I do know nothing about it. It’s nothing to do with me.”
Folks lured in by Facebook adverts for a CBD oil complement and face cream – with faux photographs showing to point out Mary holding the products – had been charged a low preliminary price earlier than costs shot as much as £200.
Wanting emotional, Mary tells Matt she feels a “sense of accountability”, including: “And there’s nothing I can do.”
Explaining why she thinks her picture was used to promote the product, which claims to alleviate power ache, she says: “I had polio after I was a baby and since I’ve bought a little bit of a wonky hand, they assume it’s arthritis and maybe that is the treatment.”
Mary complained to Fb, which pulled the adverts.
However scores of followers have advised her they fell for it.
Mary says: “I used to be simply completely shattered.”
Matt experiences that Bionic Bliss, behind the merchandise, blamed the usage of Mary’s picture on advertising companies.
